Summary of custom elements
A bunch are pretty obvious, they're like Spout, except for other existing elements. These are SteamVent, OilRig, SaltShaker, and SandStorm, and it should be obvious what comes out of them.
The Water Group
Ice is pretty boring and obvious, it will melt on its own, but freeze water that touches it. It'll melt faster if burned or steamed. The Freezer just creates ice but doesn't melt away itself. Anyway, the elements I like are the Geyser and Splasher. They're similar, except the Geyser sends up little sprays of water which explode like water balloons, and the splasher just drops down splashes of water. I think it's more interesting than the basic spout.
The Plant Groups
These change often but the basics are that the plant group grows at a normal speed, like the original plant, and it grows flowers on it. The wood group grows slower and grows leaves, which fall off. And the weed group is wilder and grows very fast. It grows climbers and ivy, which spread thin vines outward. The climbers were inspired by CoolPlant, using reverse gravity to grow. Also the thickening of the vines was inspired by CoolPlant. There are also elements that the different types of plants will grow from when watered. Soil grows plants, Stump grows wood, and Mulch grows weeds. Compost will grow all three, but the weeds tend to overtake the others.
The Bug Group
There are 3 types of bugs. The basic Bug (also Leaper) which is a basic little flying bug that will eat plants slowly. There's the FireFly (also Fly) which flys around and occasionally starts a little fire. Then there's the Worm, which I like the most. It's actually more than 1 pixel in size, which is nice, but it took 20 elements to do it. Anyway it squirms around and likes to eat plants. That is to say, it will eat plants a little faster than it would move through the empty space. And the Wormer is like a spout for Worm. Place one somewhere and worms will crawl out slowly.
The Solids Group
There are only 2 elements in this group. Stone is solidified Magma, it can be eroded away by Steam, Lava, and Water. Metal is still incomplete, but for now it heats up somewhat when burned. It will cool slowly as long as some Water or Eraser is around it. Doesn't do much else, but it looks pretty when heated.
The Fire Group
Some elements for burning stuff! The coolest one is Volcano. I know a lot of people have done this, and I haven't really looked at anyone else's. But mine sends up Lava, which falls down as Magma, which will eventually cool to Stone. For a fun effect make a Stone mountain and stick a dot of Volcano at the bottom and watch it burrow out and explode. Spark is pretty much useless. I never finished working with it. Sparker is neat. Basically, it randomly explodes puffs of fire around it. Like a lot of my elements, it can't die. Fireworks are similar to Geyser from the waters section. It sends up Mortars which explode into little bursts of Fire.
The Destruction Group
These are various ways of clearing out large areas of stuff. Purity and Purify are my attempt to create an element which eats away everything and decays quickly, so they dance up and down trying to get rid of everything that isn't permanent. Void obviously enough acts like a black hole, eating everything that comes into it. LiquidVoid isn't finished, although it could be easily enough. AcidRain rains Acid (duh) down which eats away at most things, and eventually decays.
Whew, that was a long description. I hope someone reads it. If you do please comment on the talk page. Thanks.
